The Miracle of Coincidence Part II:
Many years after the Coincidence, I was no longer in real estate and had begun working at a local metaphysical book store. A whole new world had opened to me, as I was exposed to new ways of thinking through reading the books, talking to the people who frequented the store, and listening to my co-workers. During that period of time, The Artist's Way - a book based on a twelve-step program to help blocked creatives get unblocked - became very popular. Workshops based on The Artist's Way were everywhere, it seemed. Luckily a local counselor/therapist was offering one of the workshops and I quickly signed up. The exercises in the class got me started on a creative project with my Coincidence. One of the comforters was rarely used, since it was on the bed in my guest bedroom. But the other one, which was on my bed, was getting old and worn. I decided that it needed a bit of an uplift. On a trip to an artist's supply store I discovered some felt-tip pens that were specifically to be used on fabric. When the ink dried, it became permanent. "Perfect!" I thought to myself. "Just perfect for my new project of brightening up my Coincidence comforter." When I got home with my new tools of creativity, I sat on the bed atop the oldest, shabbiest Coincidence and spread out my colorful pens. I began by using green to trace the gently curving line of stitching on the comforter. It was perfect as a vine on which flowers of my creation could "grow", or be attached. After I had a good portion of the vine done, I began with the colors. I had decided that this project was going to be an important tool to open me to my creativity. So instead of trying to duplicate images I had in my head about how flowers actually look, I began just creating colorful shapes. Then I added some different colored shapes to those shapes, and so on. I just let my hands and fingers move as they wished, and as they did so, the most incredible flowers appeared. As I became engrossed in this process, I could almost feel my Crown Chakra, the energy center of inspiration, opening. I had never in my life experienced such creative freedom... or such powerful creative energy. I worked/played with coloring my comforter for weeks until finally it was finished. When I was complete with it, I threw it over my bed and the title "Wildflowers from Outer Space" came to me. Delighted with my first truly creative piece of artwork, I signed and dated it with the year - 1997. Over the years, the back side of it eventually became worn, so I covered it with beautiful deep green velvet. To this day I still have the Coincidence/Wildflowers from Outer Space comforter. I snuggle up in it when I'm not feeling well - physically and/or emotionally. I believe that it acquired the healing energy of love, both in the loving gesture of my friend Ms. C when she gifted me with the Coincidence and during the lovingly creative process of coloring the comforter with all the beautiful Wildflowers from Outer Space.
